BIOS ZACHARY HANSEN (Writer, Director) While growing up in the eclectic southwestern city of Tucson, Hansen shot his first film, a Peckinpah-esque animated sci-fi short, at the age of 10. After crewing feature films in Arizona and assistant editing in Los Angeles, he attended film school at The California Institute of the Arts. There, Hansen experimented with different ways of both visually and aurally expressing film, making short videos with experimental jazz musicians as well as delving into abstract filmmaking. Hansen shot Killer Me his final year at Calarts. NEAL FREDERICKS (Director of Photography) Fredericks began his film career as a camera operator in 1989, spending the early years in Florida and the Washington D.C. area. In 1996, Fredericks moved to Los Angeles and worked as a director of photography on over 30 feature films, ranging from action, horror, and science fiction to comedy and drama. Fredericks' later projects included the most successful independent film of all time, The Blair Witch Project, the 1999 release Laughing Dead, and the upcoming Erosion and Abominable. Neal Fredericks died on August 14, 2004 while doing aerial photography for the film Cross Bones near the Florida Keys. He is sorely missed. GEORGE FOSTER (Joseph) Foster was a prominent member of the LA punk scene in the early 80's. As a guitarist he played in several local bands and continues to works as a solo artist today. In the 80's, Foster met documentary filmmaker Penelope Spheeris, who had recently completed her seminal punk film The Decline of Western Civilization. Spheeris was impressed with Foster's skills as a guitarist and put him in her first Hollywood feature Wayne's World as the lead guitarist for Tia Carrera's band. Foster went on to act in the sequel and even wrote a song for it. After the Wayne's World experience, Foster fell in love with acting and began training with noted acting coach Joe Palese. CHRISTINA KEW (Anna) Kew grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. She attended the UCLA drama program as both an undergraduate and graduate student, and appeared in several plays at the experimental Santa Monica theatre "The Garage" to rave reviews that singled out her performance. Hansen picked her out of several hundred actresses for the role of Anna in Killer Me. |
